Let’s talk about working together
Do you have what it takes to be our next General Manager?
This is not your typical job posting because we’re not looking for typical candidates
As a growing family-owned flooring business, we ask our team members to wear a lot of hats. While the functions we need help with now could realistically be split into 6+ specialized positions, there’s simply not enough hours of each function required each week to justify hiring 6+ different people. So, we’re looking for 1 or 2 motivated and flexible individuals to join our team. While this is an entry-level opportunity, you will have the potential to specialize or grow to a General Manager position or beyond.
Who:
We’re not restricting our search with requirements such as college degrees or years of experience. So, from recent high school grads, to trade professionals looking to get off their knees, to stay at home parents looking to get back into the workforce or anything in between, we’re open to talk if you’re open to work!
Where: This is a hybrid work environment based out of our North Plainfield warehouse with some work-from-home potential as well as field duties (company provided vehicle/gas).
When: With a few exceptions, the standard schedule is flexible but most of what we need to be done happens Monday through Friday during typical morning/afternoon hours.
What: This is where it gets fun. We don’t want to be the kind of company that hires someone under one job description and then dumps more duties/responsibilities on them. As we grow, we’d love to see our team members specialize, but for now, we need someone willing to handle multiple functions, here’s a good starting point along with a rough estimate of the time allocation for each function:
- 25% Customer Service - From initial inquiries to post-installation check ins, interact with customers to help deliver exceptional 5 star experiences
- 15% Inside Sales - help outside sales team with phone/email follow up
- 20% Project Management - optimize and order materials, schedule installs/workflow, communication with installers
- 20% Material Management - Order, track, receive, organize and sometimes deliver material to job sites
- 10% Merchandising - Stay on top of dropped materials, price changes, and new materials
- 5% Marketing - help out at a few local home shows each year (weekends)
- 5% Facilities/Operation - help keep our warehouse/office/vehicles tidy and running smoothly.
Helpful Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Dependable and trustworthy
- Clean driving record and current/valid driver’s license (standard, no CDL or anything special required)
- Highly organized
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
- Self-motivated but not afraid to ask for help and be coachable
- Forklift certification or ability to learn
- Ability to lift often heavy flooring materials and carry to job sites
- Tech Savvy - Email, web, CRM, Google (sheets, docs, calendar) plus intermedia spreadsheet use, some CMS/graphics/video experience is a HUGE plus.
Compensation: Let’s talk about this. If you ask our installers, you’ll find that we are not afraid to compensate and retain people that bring value to our company. If we see a fit, then together we can craft a plan that makes sense for you and the company that may include a base/hourly amount for the administrative and management functions PLUS commission/bonuses for the sales/marketing results. If you deliver 5 star experiences to our clients, and we’ll deliver a 5 star work/compensation plan for you.
